Why This Program

Tropical coasts in Southeast Asia and China face shared threats: climate impact, marine pollution, fisheries collapse, etc. While local NGOs drive change, young professionals need stronger tools to tackle complex challenges. In our Program, we call them WaveMakers. We help build the capacity of our WaveMakers for problem solving and leading in challenging environments through real case-based field studies and various exchange activities.

"The Hainan camp of the Young Talent Training Program was thoughtfully designed. It had a good mix of classroom sessions and engaging field experiences, while learning about the island's vibrant culture and history. The interactive activities foster valuable connections, not just through my co-Fellows but also with the local communities. The diverse backgrounds and strengths of the YTTP Fellows also allow for more holistic learning exchanges."

"In Hainan, I was inspired to see fishers, women, and young people taking part in solutions, from fishing to eco-tourism. It made me realise that although communities face similar struggles, we also share the same hope. Sustainable fishing and tourism truly go hand in hand in building stronger coastal communities."
